Our Rocky Mountain Rampage 14B-Burns team is getting the most out of their summer break on the ball diamond. Bringing home some local tourney hardware, playing a team from Australia and biting at the bit to play in the Triple Crown National Sparkler tournament starting on July 1st in Denver. The gals and coaches have worked their way up through rec ball, paid some dues in tourney ball over the years, worked hard through the winter in the gyms and in the batting cages, and are now reaping the rewards.
On the weekend of June 20-22, our gals brought home a 5th place finish out of 29 teams in the Colorado Triple Crown State Championship tournament. The Rampage went 5-2 on the weekend scoring an average of 7.3 runs a game while giving up an average of less than two runs a game. During Saturday play our girls went 4-0 while allowing only one run.
One of the high-lights of the TC State Championship was that our Rampage got the opporturnity to square off against the Torrens Valley Red Sox all the way from Adelaide, Australia. The Aussies are pictured above in red with our Rampage in blue, and were given an exemption to join the TC state tournament on their tour of the US. Each of the Red Sox girls had to earn $8000 for their month long softball tour of the United States. Our Rampagers beat the Red Sox 6-0 in their final game in Colorado before they headed west to continue their tour in Los Angeles and Southern California.
Next stop for our Rampagers is the National Triple Crown Showcase Sparkler tournament, held right here in the Denver area for ages 10U-18U. Over 500 teams from all over the country will converge on Denver for this showdown.
